here is my first (and probably last) attempt for my bio. i am a music junky - music has always been a big part of my life, too bad, i ended up as an engineer and currently am working on an IT company - say goodbye to my rockstar lifestyle. what kind of music do i listen to? my collection ranges from coldplay, to keane, to cynthia alexander, to sandwich, radiohead, from corgan to beatles, from axl to regina spektor. i practically grew up in sampaloc with my auntie, near the rally-infected mendiola bridge - spent most of my childhood developing a delightfully overactive imagination. so there you go a hopeless romantic, flower-power, not-what-you-thought-i-was, and anything in between kind of guy.

chucky and "umuwi ka na baby"

if you like horror movies I am sure you know who is this "chucky" I am talking about - chucky no not dreyfuss - but chucky the killer inside a toy.

now this brings me to why i created a blog for chucky - my hair has gotten too long that i can no longer put gel on it and in turn dokies is now calling me chucky :)

i have stopped using gel for a week now to give my hair a break - they have been swimming in wax for years now - and i think they deserve a break. Now - i have to find my long lost cap.

"umuwi ka na baby" - I have been using this phrase as my MSN status for months now and just ion case you lived under a rock for the past year - it is from Orange and lemons' hit "Hanggang Kailan" - really is a simple song but it strucks me the heardest since my fiancee is currently based on a place 12 hours late.

here goes nothing...

Labis na naiinip
Nayayamot sa bawat saglit
Kapag naaalala ka
Wala naman akong magawa...

Umuwi ka na baby
Di na ako sanay ng wala ka
Mahirap ang mag-isa
At sa gabi'y hinahanap hanap kita...

Hanggang kailan ako maghihintay
Na makasama kang muli
Sa buhay kong puno ng
Paghihirap
At tanging ikaw lang ang
Pumapawi sa mga luha at
Naglalagay ng ngiti sa mga labi...

Di mapigilang mag-isip
O baka sa tagal
Mahulog ang loob mo sa iba
Nakaka balisa
Knock on wood wag naman sana...

Umuwi ka na baby
Di na ako sanay ng wala ka
Mahirap ang mag-isa
At sa gabi'y hinahanap hanap kita...

Hanggang kailan ako maghihintay
Na makasama kang muli
Sa buhay kong puno ng
Paghihirap
At tanging ikaw lang ang
Pumapawi sa mga luha
Naglalagay ng ngiti sa mga labi...

there is no "I" in team

We recently took photos of each team here in DFG for our upcoming all-hands meeting so i decided to write a blog for them.

the first one on your left - is the elvis of rock n' roll, the jaworksi of basketball, the king of kongs - ME :)

next to me is Ferdie "the quiet but loud" Asio - He was originally from CCADS from the ms. Pie era but have to move to a different manager for the past 2 years before coming back. He is quiet - but he has something to say here and there during our weekly meetings. I have noticed that he has "grown horns" during his stay here in Accenture - its an idiom we use here in the office for employees who have been with the firm for a couple of years now and they now know how to go against the flow - if you know what i mean ;)

Next to Ferdz is Lou, DFG's songbird - she has been known for her great singing voice and for her obsession with koreanovelas - especifically Rain (do a google of rain and I am sure you will get hits of the rain I am talking about). She has been the usual target for inside jokes here in DFG because of her "one of the boys" attitude - she has been paired to virtually all new roll-ins in the project

Next one is Mama Jenny - I just overheard the team calling her mama jenny and i just tagged along. it is probably their sign of respect for her - since she has been with the ARTES project (my new project) from the beginning. She is an overworked, underpaid employee and that is not an exaggeration - they have counterparts in Chicago which treat them like robots :) but anyways - she is currently the application lead for the ARTES team.

second to the last is Carol - the baby sister of the project. She is the youngest girl in the whole DFG and probably the youngest in terms of age. Originally not from CIO but was transferred from a different Market group and the rest was history. She still has no "horns" since she is still a couple months old.

Last but not the least is Nelson - the EMO (short for emotional) punk rock fashion guy for DFG. The only person who bravely sport accesories that you would not normally see inside the office premises - leather arm bands, black thick eyeglasses, necklaces that were all DIYs (do-it-yourself), and the list goes on. She is considered to the youngest in terms of stay but not in terms of age since he has worked on a different company for 4 years prior to Accenture.

Rodel - who sadly was on VL today didn't make it on our class picture. Rodel is also an ECE, a father, a loyal wife, a good RMS member, and one of the DFG wild boys (boys who have horns).

So there you go - the RMS/ARTES team.

Who killed Jolly Jeep?

Filipinos are known as the great copiers - but the good thign about this is that we copy ideas but we always seem to give it a unique little twist. Stall names from the likes of "Big Mak burgers", up to "Yan si Rico Barber Shop" (taken from the late actor Rico C. Yan) flood the streets of Manila - some of them are just downright funny. Jolly Jeep, taken from the famous fastfood joint here in the Philippines - Jollybee. Jolly Jeep are food stalls scattered at the back-streets of the busy Makati business districts - it was actually called Jolly Jeep because there was a time when these stalls are actually Jeepneys - converted into a moving fastfood joint. I can still remember the first time I saw and ate from a Jolly Jeep - it was circa college days. The jeep was practically re-designed to fit in 2 gas stoves, a cooler which acts as their refrigerator, and several boxes and kawalis to store food.

I was amazed by the way they have fitted all that stuff inside a jeepney - including 3 vendors (+_+) and judging by the way they are placed inside, i cannot imagine how the hell they can come out. Anyways, these stalls have always been tagged as "dirty" food - they are situated alongside the streets where motorists and pollutions can easily thrive. People with brave souls...er stomach are still patrionizing these products because they are really cheaper compared to your usual Ayala cafeteria. I grew up in the university belt area - where stalls similar to Jolly Jeeps are abound. Foods like bananaque, isaw, fishballs can easily be found within your eye's reach, and when i studied in UST - i am proud to say that i survived the Hepatitis outrage haha mas matigas tyan ko kesa sa hepa.

Jolly Jeeps nowadays are made of actual permanent/concrete stalls placed on their previous parking spaces - and for me the real question is not whether "the food is clean or not" but wheter "your stomach is clean or not" *wink *wink

Just Blah

the only major thing that happened this week - was Gelo's farewell. It was Gelo's last day today and I am sure things will really be different next week - especially with their team. Gelo's departure was a big thing especially to ate janet, as she was already mentoring him to be the next lead of the group. Gelo was asking for an assurance - a thing that in Accenture is a NO-NO, even if it means releasing someone valuable (look what happened to Errol). No burget was released for this - so we are planning to give gelo a simple "occasion" just to celebrate the event.

Anyways, this has been the longest week for me - and it is really lonely. I will just think of this as detoxication - i still believe something good will happen in the end.

Gizmodo

Moth is to flame, Ladies are to shoes/bags and Men are to Gadgets. I do not know who invented this theory but it simply holds true. There are times when i buy a gadget and end up regreting it afterwards - anyways, I was surfing the net and found some interesting gadgets (new gadget is a redundancy) and i will share some of them here:

First of is the Ropeless Jump-rope (yes, your eyes are not fooling you)

It has a doughnut-shape thing on the end with weighted balls inside to simulate the rope - with this, you can perform the exersize without worrying of tripping yourself - this is really a very nice invention.

Next one is the EZVizion Video Iwear

We have seen this several times but this is the real thing - they say that this can simulate 50 inches of TV screen (+_+) - good for those long travels and this is compatible with your iPod Video and practically any gadgets with video output (not sure about PSP - but it probably is)

Last thing i want to share is this very unbelievable gadget - it will remind you of the dropper icon on your Paint application (yung kumokopya ng color). I really cannot describe how this works - you just have to watch the video.

much ado about nothing

its been one hell of a week for me - so many things have to be accomplished with so little time but anyways....

I was on sick leave this morning because my body just didnt feel right - as if i was on a brawl last night, and to add insult to injury - walang tubig sa bahay pagkagising ko eh taeng tae pa naman ako. I have to wait till 12:30 in the afternoon for water - the management decided to clean-up the building's main tank. As if its not enough - the handle for the shower in the bathroom was broken (+_+) muntik na akong di pumasok. Good thing i watched Mcgyver while growing up for these kinds of moments - pinagpalit ko ung hawakan ng shower sa isang knob sa banyo na hindi na gumagana :)

Me and few of my highschool friends were able to hang out last saturday - we went to bulacan to visit melissa and julius' new house - actually it is their sister's house. I was actually sleeping the whole trip so I do not have an idea how far it is from manila but it is about an hour of travel. The subdivision looks nice, since the houses were very much alike - di ka pedeng magimbento ng style ng bahay mo, may theme na dapat sundan. It was good to be with them again, its been a while since our last get together but it still feels just like tomorrow.

At work - its still the same thing - meeting, reviews, meetings, do some documents, meetings - rinse then repeat. Things are getting somewhat exciting as september comes near, september has always been a dark month for Accenture since it is the time when the new promotes are announced - sa totoong buhay naman ay mas madami ang hindi napropromote against sa mga napropromote so mas madami pa din ang malungkot. Richard is expecting to be promoted - and based on our deliberations, mapropromote sya kasama ni Tina and Kim - I dont know about Alvin. Ate Janet and Jaylord are vying for the Senior team Lead role - i think they will get it.

anyways, Dokies is sporting a new cellphone - Nokia N70 - a new batch of 3G phones. We took some photos to test its camera and you be the judge.
