Viva La Vida - a review
I have always been a big coldplay fan, chris martin is on my list next to God, blah blah so here goes my review of their latest album - Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.
The title (or should i say titles) of the album came from songs within the CD - this is the first time that they used 2 songs for their album lagi kasing isa lang usually (yellow, x & y, etc).
I always listen randomly on a CD whenever i play it - i dont usually go from track one to end. I know medyo weird kasi there are artists na may reason ung pagkakasunod sunod ng songs nila so i wont factor that in this review.
to keep this review short - if ever you still do not have a CD of their album (hindi pa ata binebenta dito hehe, im lucky i have a friend who works in EMI so i was able to get an early copy hehe) - stop reading this review, and go to the nearest music store that you can find and buy one. buy two, just in case hehe sobra syang worth it. They released 2 songs already as their singles - the first one was "Violet Hill" para syang parachute, or clocks - but they still have the trademark coldplay bite on the line - "so if you love me - why'd you let me go"
Teh next single is actually better (for me) titled "Viva La Vida" - I cant compare it to old codlplay songs kasi parang fresh yung dating nung kanta eh - if you really listen to it, halos iisa lang ung beat ng kanta hanggang sa dulo and the more you listen to it, the more that you'll get hooked. I was wondering kugn ano ang meanign ng kanta - some say it is a political song, pero it might be different when chris was actually writing the song - so who knows.
The next song na gusto ko i highlight is the other song from the title of the album - "Death and all of His Friends" - it is actually a 3 song rolled into, it starts slow - parang "Fix You" then bibilis, tapos may mahabang pause as if its already the end of the song, pero may pangatlong song sa dulo ng kanta - magaling.
If you are looking for vintage coldplay-tear jearky songs - di kayo magsisisi kasi meron pa rin sa album na to, you have "42" and "Lost!". Actually the album is full of surprises - some are saying na pede tong maging solo album ni Chris but the album is really good - there is enough songs for everyone.
I have to mention "Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love" as well - it starts of pretty energetic, the beat will have your feet tapping tapos parang ung isang kanta nila - this is actually 2 songs in one uli, i heard iTunes is actually offering these songs separately for their download service.
Over-all - i really like this album, better than "X & Y" not sure if better than the first pero ang galing - chris is not afraid to try something new but you can still say that this is the same old clunky band that started out in the eary 90's.
