here is my first (and probably last) attempt for my bio. i am a music junky - music has always been a big part of my life, too bad, i ended up as an engineer and currently am working on an IT company - say goodbye to my rockstar lifestyle. what kind of music do i listen to? my collection ranges from coldplay, to keane, to cynthia alexander, to sandwich, radiohead, from corgan to beatles, from axl to regina spektor. i practically grew up in sampaloc with my auntie, near the rally-infected mendiola bridge - spent most of my childhood developing a delightfully overactive imagination. so there you go a hopeless romantic, flower-power, not-what-you-thought-i-was, and anything in between kind of guy.

Random Stuffs While On 24 Hour Shift

I just finished updating several documents for my job and i decided to relax and write down things for this blog.

1) It has officially been 1 week already since i permanently moved into me and my wife's new place. The place is really good - not big, but we really invested for the place since it is like our first "home". Going home has never really been this exciting - i always looked forward to our very comfy sofa. I actually slept there a coupel of times already hehe

2) My DSL connection has just been installed last week - good news for my xbox360 ^_^ ill be seeing a lot of you guys online

3) eraserheads one-night-only reunion gig - when i heard about this, tears almost fell. eraserheads were really a big influence on me during my early days. their breakup was really bad - i was glad they are ready to bury the hatchet and provide fans a well-deserved concert. *&^%$#@! if the rumors are true - i wont be able to make it - tae tae tae talaga.

4) E3 - for those non-hardcore gamers, E3 is like the world youth day of gamers. it is a yearly convention of gaem developers where they usually show surprises and show their new stuffs for the coming year. As of my writing, Microsoft conference is already done - their biggest surprise - Final Fantasy 13 on xbox :| this is similar to Eat Bulaga transfering to Channel 2, or Wowowee transfering to GMA 7. The final fantasy series has always been a loyal playstaion EXCLUSIVE game - but not for long as the latest iteration of the long runnign series will also be available on xbox.

Nintendo (makers of Wii) and Sony (makers of PS3) will show their surprises tommorow. Hopefully Sony will have some tricks on their sleeves to counter the xbox surprise - i was very surprised as well.

5) My company currently has this photo competition that is open worldwide - i have lots of ideas and i hate it that my project (inderectly) would not allow me to participate because of the heavy schedule. The deadline is this friday and i doubt it if i can even charge my camera. >_<

6) I am currently eating taho hehe 4 AM and my team mate went out for a quick cigar and caem back with tahos for both of us - salamat dre hehe

Viva La Vida - a review

I have always been a big coldplay fan, chris martin is on my list next to God, blah blah so here goes my review of their latest album - Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.

The title (or should i say titles) of the album came from songs within the CD - this is the first time that they used 2 songs for their album lagi kasing isa lang usually (yellow, x & y, etc).

I always listen randomly on a CD whenever i play it - i dont usually go from track one to end. I know medyo weird kasi there are artists na may reason ung pagkakasunod sunod ng songs nila so i wont factor that in this review.

to keep this review short - if ever you still do not have a CD of their album (hindi pa ata binebenta dito hehe, im lucky i have a friend who works in EMI so i was able to get an early copy hehe) - stop reading this review, and go to the nearest music store that you can find and buy one. buy two, just in case hehe sobra syang worth it. They released 2 songs already as their singles - the first one was "Violet Hill" para syang parachute, or clocks - but they still have the trademark coldplay bite on the line - "so if you love me - why'd you let me go"

Teh next single is actually better (for me) titled "Viva La Vida" - I cant compare it to old codlplay songs kasi parang fresh yung dating nung kanta eh - if you really listen to it, halos iisa lang ung beat ng kanta hanggang sa dulo and the more you listen to it, the more that you'll get hooked. I was wondering kugn ano ang meanign ng kanta - some say it is a political song, pero it might be different when chris was actually writing the song - so who knows.

The next song na gusto ko i highlight is the other song from the title of the album - "Death and all of His Friends" - it is actually a 3 song rolled into, it starts slow - parang "Fix You" then bibilis, tapos may mahabang pause as if its already the end of the song, pero may pangatlong song sa dulo ng kanta - magaling.

If you are looking for vintage coldplay-tear jearky songs - di kayo magsisisi kasi meron pa rin sa album na to, you have "42" and "Lost!". Actually the album is full of surprises - some are saying na pede tong maging solo album ni Chris but the album is really good - there is enough songs for everyone.

I have to mention "Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love" as well - it starts of pretty energetic, the beat will have your feet tapping tapos parang ung isang kanta nila - this is actually 2 songs in one uli, i heard iTunes is actually offering these songs separately for their download service.

Over-all - i really like this album, better than "X & Y" not sure if better than the first pero ang galing - chris is not afraid to try something new but you can still say that this is the same old clunky band that started out in the eary 90's.
